Warm weather in Saugerties brings many things; baseball at Cantine Field, water chestnuts in the Esopus, the enjoyment of adult beverages outdoors at Stella’s. And most years, though not all, it also brings damage to a village window or public art display, usually at the hands of an inebriated passerby on the way home from a bar. Such was the case early Sunday morning, when a Saugerties police patrol observed a man break the window at Deli-Cioso on Partition St., then flee with an associate.
Saugerties police detained both after a brief foot pursuit, and charged Harry E. Giles IV, 23, of Edith Ave., with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Giles was treated by paramedics for an injury sustained to his arm and issued an appearance ticket.
